Why I Am A German Team Supporter
Why I Am A German Team Supporter Well, the boys (footballers) are really very talented – besides, there are many more reasons for me to cheer it on:
- One of my pen friends is German ( I wonder if Helga is a football fan);
- My youngest sister-in-law’s husband is a handsome German engineer;
- My son-in-law Mauricio has German ancestry. His mother’s maiden name is Gottsfriedt;
- My loving and lovely granddaughter, my beloved Bela is of German descent too. Her father’s surname is Brugger.
Ahhh… there is another important thing in the German team that caught my attention,
 the Prince Poldi Besides being a skilful footballer, Podolski reminds me of my nephew Tulio. Both are good-looking blonde boys. And although my nephew plays football as a hobby, he is talented too, of course he isn’t a “Brazilian Podolski” hehehehe But what makes Tulio a wonderful person is his way of being, his great character. I don’t know anything about Podolski’s life and I hope he is a great human being as my dear nephew is. I really sympathize with the German team, but from the bottom of my heart, I have to say: Brasilian flag from: gifs - " I’m Brazilian! I love the Brazilian team and... I’m crossing my fingers that they will be successful in 2010 FIFA World Cup."

Ó Minas Gerais! Ó Minas Gerais!
 We went on an one-day excursion to Caraça, one of the many national parks in our state of Minas Gerais. Caraça Natural Park is one of the remnants of Atlantic forest, the extensive rainforest which once stretched along most of Brazil’s coast.
photo from:www.afontur.com.br/index.php?p=5
Photo from: www.click21.mypage.com.br/myflog/visualiza_mo... The name Caraça is due to a big shape in the Espinhaço mountain range, a big visage. Well, cara is a slang word for face in Portuguese and Caraça is a big cara. The Caraça park, which belongs to a catholic congregation, offers several attractions linked to nature. There are many trails that require good physical conditions and our group had a walk through the park choosing the easiest one, we walked only 2 km to reach Cascatinha, a wonderful waterfall, there are several falls forming extremely beautiful natural pools. . While we were walking, we could admire the peculiar vegetation, the ones from the Atlantic forest and the others from the cerrado. I was amazed by the different lichens growing over the tree-trunks. Green lichens are very common but the yellow lichens and the red ones grow only in regions where the environmental pollution is zero
In the heart of this protected area there is a monastery, an old seminary that became a popular hotel for wildlife lovers from the early 70’s after 150 years of work dedicated to seminarians and boy’s intellectual education. The building of the former boarding school went up in flames in 1968 and nowadays its remains are a museum. There is also the first church in neo-gothic style built in Brazil, it replaced an old one in baroque style dated from 1770. Dom Pedro II, the second and the last emperor of Brazil used to visit Caraça and I took a photo of a place where once he slipped. See, the spot turned into a tourist attraction. Lol photos from: : www.santuariodocaraca.com.br/.../lobo_guara.php I’d like to come back there with my family to spend at least one night, so that we could see the Caraça’s biggest star: the maned wolf - lobo – guará - that appears every night to be fed by the monks.

The End of a Nightmare
They had been dating for several months and now the relationship was over. After a quick word, trying to express his reason, he left. My whole world fell apart, the girl regretted over and over. She wondered, why? why? She was absolutely devastated, desperate, destroyed emotionally. Sometimes she went berserk. In her desperation, she cried and cried. Astonishment? Anger? Perplexity? Hopelessness? What about their plans to a future together? She couldn’t imagine her life without him. It would be necessary a strategy to get him back. Finding out the true motive for that break up would be the first step. A cousin named Delma, who was on holiday there, offered to help promptly. So the cousin visited the family of her desperate relative’s boyfriend. Finally Delma came back with lots of things to tell about her “findings”. Of course they were the family’s version of what had occurred. The boyfriend’s mother was so sorry! In her try to calm down the situation, she gave an untrue explanation of the break up. “My son is going to Europe. He will study there”, she said. The girl immediately wiped her tearful face, deciding to write to José, her ex-boyfriend. She knew the ropes; she would do the best writing the letter. “Are you going to Europe? Why didn’t you tell me? Think carefully about us. I could have been the best thing you ever had.” After few days she had her boyfriend’s answer, “I love you and I won’t go to Europe.”
The nightmare was over. PS. This is a story based on a real-life passage. An old Photo:

Tom Hanks at David Letterman’s Late Show
Besides hearing English-native speakers most of the time, which is very helpful to improve my English, I’m surprised by the presence of great people in late-night talk show hosted by David Letterman all the time. Last week I watched a “Late Show” from October 2009, a repeat I think. Guess what? Can you imagine who the interviewee was? The formidable actor, the wonderful human being…the worldwide-admired Tom Hanks. But I’m not boasting about what good taste I have in choosing idols. Tom Hanks’ values are recognized by everybody, we can notice it in uncountable sites on Internet. It’s a great privilege to be one more fan of him. I do look up to this fabulous actor. Watching the interview of Tom Hanks, I was delighted at his ability to tell stories; he does it in a so catchy way that it takes our mind off any worry. My idol told us about a journey when he was driving an old car and he and his fellows ran out of gas. It was a funny narrative about his own experiences. And his loving way, when he mentioned his wife, Rita Wilson, made me admire him much more. Tom Hanks reminds me of a beloved Brazilian actor, Tony Ramos. Seriousness, politeness, dedication to the family and respect for other people are some qualities they have in common besides their talent for acting. Both are really admirable!
